Robert J. “Bob” Joseph Fragen, beloved physician, educator, family man and longtime Chicago resident, passed away peacefully at the age of 90 on Saturday, July 26, 2025.  Born on January 18, 1935, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Bob was raised in Whiting, Indiana by his devoted parents, Nathan and Ruth Fragen. Bob’s early love for medicine was inspired by a caring aunt who practiced obstetrics–gynecology. He pursued his studies at Indiana University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in 1956 and his M.D. in 1959. Following his training in anesthesiology residency, he served as Head of the Anesthesia Department at the Naval Hospital in Beaufort, South Carolina from 1962 to 1964, during which he held the rank of lieutenant in the United States Navy. Tonya Lynn Zorn (April 1989 – July 23, 2025), age 35, of Warrenville, South Carolina, peacefully passed away on Wednesday afternoon, July 23, 2025, while in custody at the Aiken County Detention Center.  The Aiken County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) have launched a joint investigation into her death, although authorities have indicated at this time that no signs of foul play are suspected. Tonya was discovered unresponsive in her cell around 5:30 p.m, and emergency medical personnel transported her to Aiken Regional Medical Centers, where she was later pronounced deceased.  An autopsy has been scheduled in Newberry to determine the official cause and manner of death. A native of Warrenville, Tonya battled long‑standing struggles with addiction and legal difficulties. Colleen Foutz Halsey, age 67, of Flowell, Utah, died on July 24, 2025, in an incident now under investigation. Authorities report that her grandson, Jay Dean Stevens (28), shot and killed her before taking his own life; the couple’s 23‑month‑old daughter was also found dead, with her cause of death pending autopsy results. Colleen was deeply devoted to her family and community. Joseph Merrill, a 25-year-old resident of Russellville, Kentucky, tragically passed away on July 26, 2025. His unexpected death has left his family, friends, and the community in deep sorrow.
