It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Lanette Walton, a beloved mother, sister, friend, and cherished member of the Augusta community, who departed this life on July 30, 2025.

Lanette's life was marked by kindness, resilience, and an unwavering dedication to her family and friends. She was 58 years old.

Lanette Walton was born on March 15, 1967, in Augusta, Georgia, to the late James and Mary Walton.

From a young age, she exhibited a compassionate spirit and a strong sense of community. She graduated from Lucy Craft Laney High School and later earned a degree in healthcare administration, demonstrating her commitment to service and helping others.

Throughout her life, Lanette worked tirelessly in various healthcare roles, always with a warm smile and an empathetic ear. Her colleagues and patients alike valued her for her professionalism and genuine care.

Beyond her career, Lanette was known for her vibrant personality and her ability to lift the spirits of everyone around her.

Whether hosting family gatherings, participating in local charity events, or simply sharing a kind word, her presence was a source of comfort and inspiration to many.

Lanette was a devoted mother to her two children, who were the center of her universe. She took immense pride in their accomplishments and was their biggest supporter. Her children remember her as a loving, nurturing, and fiercely protective mother who always put their needs before her own. 

She also treasured her role as a sister and aunt, often organizing family reunions and making sure that her loved ones stayed connected.

Her faith was a cornerstone of her life. Lanette was an active member of her church, where she volunteered her time and talents. 

She believed in the power of community and service, often reaching out to those in need. Her generosity extended beyond her family and church, as she was known for her willingness to lend a helping hand to neighbors and friends alike.

Lanette’s departure leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew her. She is survived by her children, Marcus Walton and Tanya Walton; her siblings, John Walton and Lisa Thomas; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family members. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Mary Walton.

A celebration of Lanette’s life will be held on August 5, 2025, at the First Baptist Church of Augusta, beginning at 11 a.m. 

Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family invites friends and loved ones to join them in honoring her memory and sharing stories of her kindness and strength.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Lanette’s memory to local charities dedicated to health and wellness initiatives in Augusta. Her legacy of love, compassion, and service will continue to inspire all who knew her.

Lanette Walton’s spirit will forever remain in our hearts. She touched so many lives with her warmth and generosity, and her memory will be cherished forever.
