Ruby Lee Underwood, a 29-year-old mother of two, tragically lost her life in a motorcycle accident on Sunday, May 18, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas. The incident occurred around 12:25 a.m. near the intersection of Highway 90 and SW 36th Street. According to the San Antonio Police Department, four motorcyclists were involved in the crash.  Preliminary reports indicate that a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed spun out, causing a chain-reaction collision. Underwood was unable to stop in time and was thrown from her motorcycle, resulting in her death at the scene.  The driver and owner of the vehicle allegedly fled but were later detained and released pending further investigation. Richard ("Ricky") Wilson Lea, 66, of Eastwood, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2022, at Hospice House in Pinehurst. Born on August 1, 1956, he was the second child of William and Carlene Lea. Following his graduation from Pinecrest High School in 1974, Ricky enlisted in the United States Navy, serving aboard the USS Midway during the evacuation missions at the end of the Vietnam War. He continued his service in the Naval Reserve until his retirement in 1994 as a Petty Officer 1st Class. After returning from active duty, Ricky joined his brother Billy and father in running the family farm, transitioning from tobacco farming to raising beef cattle. He also served with the Eastwood Volunteer Fire Department before building a 25-year career with the Pinehurst Fire Department, retiring as Battalion Chief in 2019. Hope Griffin, 43, of Enon, Ohio, tragically passed away on March 22, 2022, following a devastating automobile accident on March 12. She was the driver of a Mini Cooper involved in a collision with a Mercedes-Benz at the intersection of Middle Urbana Road and State Route 334 in Clark County. The crash resulted in a fiery explosion, claiming the lives of all three occupants of the Mercedes-Benz: Hamza Iftikhar (33), Michael Javier Crespo Capella (29), Anuj Dutta (23), and all from Springfield.         Hope's husband, David Griffin, 50, was a passenger in the Mini Cooper and died at the scene. Their 14-year-old son, Caleb, was also in the vehicle and sustained injuries but was later released from the hospital. The Purdue University community is grieving following the tragic death of Austin Davis Fisher, a 25-year-old undergraduate student who died by suicide on the morning of April 25, 2025.  The Tippecanoe County Coroner's Office identified Fisher as the victim in an investigation that began after a call to the Northwestern Parking Garage on campus at approximately 8:15 a.m. Purdue University Police responded to the scene where it was discovered that Fisher had died by hanging, a fact later confirmed by PUPD Capt.
