Quando Rondo Shooting in Los Angeles – Federal Case Revisits Fatal 2022 Ambush

The shooting involving rapper Quando Rondo in Los Angeles has returned to the spotlight as a federal murder-for-hire case moves through court. Although headlines may describe the incident as a shooting “today,” the underlying attack occurred on August 19, 2022, near a Beverly Grove gas station. 

Quando Rondo survived, while his cousin and associate, Saviay’a “Lul Pab” Robinson, was fatally shot.

The case has attracted renewed attention because prosecutors allege that the attack was part of a revenge plot connected to the 2020 killing of rapper King Von. Federal authorities have accused Chicago rapper Lil Durk, whose real name is Durk Banks, of orchestrating a murder-for-hire scheme targeting Quando Rondo. Banks has pleaded not guilty and his defense has disputed the prosecution’s account.

According to prosecutors, the intended target of the Los Angeles attack was Quando Rondo, but the violence resulted in the death of Robinson. Several alleged associates of Lil Durk were also charged in connection with the case, with prosecutors maintaining that resources including travel arrangements and vehicles were organized as part of the alleged plot.

The case is now receiving significant attention because the federal trial has begun in Los Angeles. Prosecutors have presented the alleged murder-for-hire scheme as an organized effort motivated by retaliation, while the defense has challenged that narrative and argued that other individuals were responsible for planning the attack.

For Quando Rondo, the incident remains a deeply personal chapter involving the loss of someone close to him. Robinson’s death has continued to be central to the federal prosecution, transforming what began as an attack on a prominent rapper into a homicide investigation and major criminal case.
