Sharon L. Vershaw, beloved daughter, mother, friend and mentor, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2025, just two days after celebrating her 57th birthday.
Born October 25, 1968, in Long Grove, Iowa, Sharon’s life was one of devotion, joy and service to others.
Sharon’s generosity and kindness touched many. She was known for her warm smile, a laugh that could light up a room, and a heart that always sought to help.
Whether volunteering in her community, reaching out to friends in times of need, or simply sharing a quiet moment of companionship, Sharon embraced life with compassion and authenticity.
As a therapeutic riding instructor with New Kingdom Trialriders a role dear to her Sharon found special joy in working with riders of all ages, helping to build confidence, independence and connection through horseback therapy.
The organization was among the many recipients of memorial contributions, reflecting how meaningful her work had become.
Family meant everything to Sharon. She cherished the times spent in laughter and conversation, the gatherings that gathered friends and loved ones around her table, and the memories created in each of those moments.
Though details of her immediate survivors are not listed in the available notice, the love and respect expressed speak to the deep bonds she built throughout her life.
In her final days, Sharon remained quietly brave and loving, surrounded by the knowledge that she was valued and deeply missed.
The celebration of her life is planned for Thursday, October 30, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Murphy’s Pub, 613 10th St., DeWitt, Iowa.
The gathering is an invitation for all who knew Sharon to share stories, offer condolences, and remember a life lived richly.
Though Sharon’s passing leaves a void, the legacy she leaves behind is vibrant and enduring.
She taught by example: how to serve, how to care, how to laugh and how to live fully even in the small moments.
Her spirit lives on in the hearts of everyone she touched, and in the ripple-effect of kindness she inspired in her community.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorials be made to the New Kingdom Trialriders, in recognition of Sharon’s passion and work as a therapeutic riding instructor.
This gesture reflects her commitment to enabling others, and to making a difference beyond herself.
As family and friends prepare to say farewell, they will hold close the memory of Sharon’s laughter, the warmth of her embrace, and the light she brought into the world.
The sadness of her early departure is tempered, in part, by the deep gratitude for the 57 years she shared and the impact she made.
Rest in peace, Sharon your life was a gift, your presence unforgettable, and your love a guiding light to all who had the privilege of knowing you.
