It is with profound sorrow that we share the passing of Officer David Cajuso an esteemed motorman with the Miami Beach Police Department (MBPD) whose life was tragically cut short in a motorcycle crash on Tuesday, October 28, 2025.
A Life of Service
Officer Cajuso served his community with distinction for a decade. According to the Miami Beach Police Department, he had proudly worn the department’s badge for 10 years, demonstrating unwavering commitment to public safety and a deep sense of duty. He was just 33 years old at the time of his passing.

Known as a “decorated hero” by MBPD Chief Wayne Jones, Officer Cajuso’s reputation extended beyond his motorcycle detail; his dedication resonated across the law-enforcement community in South Florida.
The Tragic Incident
The crash occurred at approximately 11:25 a.m. near the north-bound lanes of Interstate 75 in the Hialeah Gardens area specifically near the junction with Gratigny Parkway. Reports indicate Officer Cajuso’s motorcycle went off the roadway and down a steep embankment.
He was immediately air-lifted to the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital, where medical staff fought to save his life.
Later that afternoon, MBPD and other law-enforcement agencies confirmed he had succumbed to his injuries.
At the scene, dozens of law-enforcement vehicles and units responded, and the crash prompted significant roadway closures as investigators from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) began examining the circumstances of the incident.
A Family Left Behind
Officer Cajuso leaves behind a devoted wife and three young children, aged approximately two, three, and five an unimaginable loss for a young family.
He is also survived by his parents and the large MBPD “family” who mourn his passing deeply.
Colleagues and agencies across the state expressed condolences, emphasizing the bond that unites officers when one falls in the line of duty.
Legacy and Remembrance
Officer Cajuso’s legacy is one of selfless service. MBPD’s statement honored his decade of dedication, describing him as someone who “faithfully served our Miami Beach community … with courage and an unwavering commitment to public service.”
On the day of his passing, more than a hundred law-enforcement officers gathered outside Jackson Memorial to pay their respects a visible testament to the impact he had on his colleagues and the community.
Funeral arrangements are forthcoming; at this time the department has asked for prayers for his grieving family and for the brother-and-sister officers who carry on.
