With heavy hearts, the family and friends of  Erin Christine Schlabach announce her peaceful passing on  August 19, 2025, at the age of 39. 

Erin entered into her Heavenly home surrounded by the love and prayers of those closest to her, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of warmth, creativity, and compassion.

Born and raised in Fort Wayne, Erin was a proud graduate of  Leo High School and later continued her education at Ivy Tech Community College, where she cultivated her talents and pursued her passion for learning. 

Her journey through life was marked by resilience, kindness, and an unwavering ability to find joy in the simple, meaningful moments that enriched her days.

Erin was a woman of many gifts, with a particular love for baking and creative writing. 

Whether she was preparing homemade treats to share with family and friends or penning heartfelt stories and reflections, she expressed her spirit in ways that touched the hearts of others. 

Those who were fortunate enough to experience her baking remember not only the sweetness of her creations but also the care and love that she poured into everything she made. 

Through her writing, she captured emotions and experiences in a way that reflected her deep thoughtfulness and unique perspective on life.

Her compassionate nature extended beyond people to animals, and Erin held a special bond with her beloved cats, Midna and Lennon, who brought her comfort and companionship. 

Her affection for animals was a reflection of her gentle soul, and it is fitting that her family has requested memorial contributions be directed to Humane Fort Wayne, an organization close to her heart.

Erin’s life was defined by the love of family. She is survived by her devoted parents, Todd and Robin Bertsch, who nurtured and supported her throughout her life, as well as her brother, Joshua Bertsch, with whom she shared an enduring sibling bond filled with memories, laughter, and unconditional love. 

To her extended family and circle of friends, Erin was a source of joy and encouragement, always ready with a kind word, a listening ear, or a thoughtful gesture.

Though her passing leaves a void that cannot be filled, those who knew Erin take comfort in the countless moments shared with her and the ways she enriched their lives. 

Her smile, her creativity, and her ability to bring warmth to any gathering will be remembered with deep affection.

A Celebration of Life will be planned at a later date, offering family and friends the opportunity to come together in remembrance of Erin’s beautiful spirit. 

In honoring her memory, those closest to her are reminded of her faith, her kindness, and the importance of living with love and gratitude.

The community of Fort Wayne now mourns the loss of Erin Christine Schlabach, a daughter, sister, and friend whose presence will be dearly missed but whose spirit will forever remain in the hearts of all who loved her.
