Stanley “Bucky” Osheal, age 61, of Westminster in Oconee County, South Carolina, passed away tragically on July 19, 2025, following a fatal vehicle collision. According to the Oconee County Coroner’s Office, Mr. Osheal was involved in a crash near Westminster on Roper Mountain Road at approximately 1:55 p.m. and was pronounced dead at the scene shortly thereafter. The coroner officially ruled his passing accidental, noting multiple blunt-force injuries as the cause of death.
Born on August 15, 1963, in Oconee County, Stanley grew up in the tight-knit community of Westminster, where he remained deeply connected and beloved throughout his life. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Stanley was known by many as “Bucky” – a testament to his affectionate spirit and the warmth he brought into every room.
After graduating from Westminster High School in 1981, Stanley began his career in the automotive industry as a skilled mechanic at local service centers. His natural aptitude for diagnosing and repairing vehicles earned him respect and admiration from coworkers and customers alike. He eventually opened his own small automotive repair shop, where his honest, straightforward manner, coupled with dependable craftsmanship, established him as a trusted pillar of the local business community.
Beyond his professional life, Stanley was a man of many passions and interests. He had a lifelong love for the outdoors—spending weekends hunting, fishing at Lake Keowee, or tending to the family garden behind his home.
He carried forward a tradition of sharing his harvest with neighbors and friends, often gifting fresh vegetables and garden produce during the summer and cared meals in cooler months.
A committed family man, Stanley married the love of his life, Jeanette (née Harris), in 1985. Together, they raised two children—daughter Stephanie and son Marcus—instilling in them the values of integrity, hard work, and compassion.
Grandfather “Bucky” adored spoiling his grandchildren—Ethan, Lily, and Jackson—with stories, handmade wooden toys, and memorable fishing trips. Their laughter and joy brought him a pride that was evident to all who knew him.
Stanley also found immense fulfillment in community involvement. He was a longtime member of Westminster Rotary Club, where he led fundraising efforts for local youth programs and spearheaded annual community cleanup events.
In partnership with the local fire department, he helped host vehicle safety and maintenance workshops—sharing his expertise with both teens and adults. His willingness to mentor younger mechanics and his genuine generosity earned him lasting gratitude from many.
Stanley is survived by his wife, Jeanette; children Stephanie (husband Davis Bryant) and Marcus (wife Anna Osheal); grandchildren Ethan, Lily, Jackson; his sister Patricia Keller; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mildred Osheal, whose legacy of service and family values he carried forward.
A visitation honoring Stanley’s memory will take place on Tuesday, July 22, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Westminster Funeral Home, 112 Main Street, Westminster, SC. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 23, at 11 a.m. at Westminster United Methodist Church, with interment at Westminster Community Cemetery to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests memorial donations to the Westminster Rotary Club Scholarship Fund or the Oconee County Fire Relief Fund—two causes Mr. Osheal supported wholeheartedly during his life.
Stanley “Bucky” Osheal’s sudden passing leaves a profound void in Westminster and beyond. Yet his legacy endures—in the mechanics he mentored, the gardens he nurtured, the community events he championed, and the love he shared with his family. May we all remember him as a man of strength, humility, and genuine caring.
Rest in peace, Bucky. Your work here is done, but your spirit remains with us always.
