James Howard Wilson - Death News - Obituary - James Howard Wilson, Has Passed Away

James H. Wilson, 81, of Hiseville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at his daughter’s residence, surrounded by the love and comfort of family.

A lifelong resident of Barren County, James was a proud native of the area he called home all his life. He was the son of the late Charlie and Pearl Mae Harrison Wilson, who instilled in him the values of hard work, humility, and devotion to family that he carried throughout his years.

James spent much of his working life as a roofer, a trade that demanded strength, endurance, and skill. He was known for his reliability and willingness to take on tough jobs without complaint. Beyond roofing, James stayed busy doing yard work throughout Glasgow and surrounding communities, along with various odd jobs for friends, neighbors, and anyone in need of a helping hand.

He believed in honest labor and took pride in earning a living through steady, dependable work. Many in the community remember him not just for the jobs he completed, but for the friendly conversations and steady presence he brought with him.

At home, James found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He especially loved working in his yard, keeping it neat and well cared for. Each year, he looked forward to planting and tending his tomato garden, a tradition that reflected both his patience and his appreciation for watching things grow. Sharing the fruits of his labor with family and friends brought him quiet satisfaction.

More than anything, James cherished his family. He is survived by his three children: Tammy Gillock Smith (Darrell), Connie Wilson Ballard (Teddy), and Howard Wilson. He was a proud grandfather to nine grandchildren: April Morgan (Jason), Jerry Bennett, Marlena Ballard Whitlow (Dwayne), Thomas Ballard (Tonya Dennison), Travis Wilson (Sha Bennett), Kaylah Wilson (Travis Horvath), Johnathan Neal, Amber Wilson, and Heather Gillock. His legacy continues through his several great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who will remember his steady presence and caring heart.

James found his greatest happiness in spending time with his grandchildren. He loved playing with them, teasing them with a smile, and offering the kind of unconditional love that only a grandfather can give.

Whether sitting on the porch, attending family gatherings, or simply enjoying a quiet afternoon together, those moments meant the world to him. His family will forever treasure the laughter, stories, and lessons he shared.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his beloved companion, Sonja Kay Wilson, whose memory remained close to his heart.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 20, 2026, at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home, with burial to follow in the Hiseville Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday and after 9:00 a.m. Friday until the time of service.

James H. Wilson will be remembered as a hardworking man, a devoted father and grandfather, and a neighbor always willing to lend a hand. His quiet strength and enduring love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
