Billie Dickinson passed away peacefully on February 17th in Louisville, Kentucky, leaving behind a legacy of devotion, service, and love that will continue to bless all who knew her. Born on December 20, 1936, in Glasgow, Kentucky, Billie was the cherished daughter of William E. Howard and Jane Elizabeth Miller Howard, both of whom preceded her in death. 

She was also predeceased by her beloved husband, Brents Dickinson III, and her brother-in-law, Henry Holman Dickinson. Though her family grieves deeply, they also celebrate a life beautifully lived in faith, compassion, and steadfast dedication to others.

Billie is survived by her daughter, Brents Dickinson; her son, Christopher Howard Dickinson and his wife Melissa; and her treasured grandchildren, Peyton Elizabeth Johnson and her husband Matthew, and Claire Lillian Dickinson. 

She is also lovingly remembered by her sisters-in-law, Lelia Ann (Smith) Grant and Emmy Lou Dickinson, as well as close family member Clayton Miller and his wife Virginia. Her family was the center of her world, and she embraced her roles as mother and grandmother with boundless pride and affection.

A graduate of the Glasgow, Kentucky School System, Billie went on to earn a degree in Education from the University of Kentucky. Her passion for learning naturally evolved into a meaningful career in teaching within the Fayette County School System. 

Among her most impactful roles was her work at the Child Development Center at the Cerebral Palsy Center, where she offered patience, encouragement, and specialized care to children with unique needs. Billie believed deeply in the potential of every child and dedicated herself to nurturing growth, confidence, and joy in the classroom.

Following her years in education, Billie devoted herself wholeheartedly to her family as a homemaker and caregiver. She created a home filled with warmth, structure, and faith, ensuring that her children were supported in every endeavor.

Yet her contributions extended well beyond her household. Billie was an active and valued member of the Bowling Green community, generously sharing her time and talents with numerous organizations.

She was especially devoted to the Bowling Green Housing Authority, where she enthusiastically supported programs designed to improve the quality of life for residents. Billie believed in building strong communities grounded in opportunity and compassion. 

Her civic involvement also included the Kentucky Museum, the Bowling Green/Warren County Orchestra, Hospice initiatives, the Cerebral Palsy Board, Chapter O of P.E.O., and the First Baptist Church of Bowling Green, where her faith found both expression and fellowship.

Those who knew Billie often said she loved “anything that grows: Children, Flowers, and Faith.” Whether tending a garden, mentoring a child, or participating in church life, she nurtured growth wherever she was planted. Her gentle strength, gracious spirit, and unwavering kindness left an indelible mark on her community.

A visitation and Celebration of Life will be held at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home, 801 N. Race Street, Glasgow, Kentucky, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 21st, with a graveside service to follow at Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to First Baptist Church of Bowling Green, Chapter O of P.E.O., or a charity of one’s choice. Billie’s life stands as a testament to service, faith, and enduring love.
