The Last Suspect: A Night of Chaos From Cross Lake to Curtis Lane

The final hours of Friday night unfolded like a grim puzzle scattered across two locations miles apart pieces of violence, panic, and unanswered questions that investigators are still struggling to fit together.

At the center of that puzzle is Dennis Scott, the only suspect still missing after a double homicide that began with gunfire at the Cross Lake Apartments and ended with a second victim found dead in the back seat of an SUV on Curtis Lane.

The victims, Traavian and Jaka Datcher, were cousins both just twenty-one years old, both caught in what police believe was a sudden, calculated ambush.

The attack appears to have unfolded moments after the pair stepped out of their vehicle at Cross Lake, the night still and ordinary until the eruption of gunshots split the air.

was struck first. Emergency responders rushed him to the hospital, but despite efforts to save him, he was later pronounced dead.

What happened to Jaka in the minutes that followed remains more complicated, more mysterious, and more troubling.

Authorities say that after the initial shooting, the same SUV the cousins had been traveling in left the apartment complex. Whether Jaka was attempting to flee, being transported by others, or already incapacitated at that point is still unknown.

Hours later, the vehicle was discovered abandoned on Curtis Lane far from the original scene with Jaka’s lifeless body in the back seat.

There were no signs of anyone remaining at the scene, no witnesses able to describe who drove the vehicle there or when it arrived, and no clear timeline explaining how Jaka ended up on the opposite side of town without receiving medical help.

As detectives work to unravel the sequence of events, they have turned their focus toward four individuals believed to have played roles in the violence.

Alyssa RogersRufus Anderson, and Devonte Davis have already been arrested, each charged with two counts of second-degree murder.

Their apprehension has shed light on parts of the case, but the most elusive piece Dennis Scott remains at large, his absence looming over the investigation.

Police describe Scott as the final missing link in a chain of actions that spanned multiple locations in rapid succession. With the other suspects in custody, attention has shifted to reconstructing the route taken between Cross Lake Apartments and Curtis Lane, hoping to understand who was controlling the SUV, who fired which shots, and why neither cousin received immediate aid.

The chaotic movements after the attack suggest panic, fear, or deliberate attempts to conceal the extent of the violence.

Yet the most painful question remains unanswered: Why did Jaka never get help?

The community, shaken by the brutality and the young lives lost, is left waiting for clarity as detectives piece together the truth.

For the families of Traavian and Jaka, the grief is immeasurable, and the hope for justice is tied to locating the final suspect still unaccounted for.

Our thoughts remain with all those mourning in the wake of this devastating tragedy.
