Tamang proudly served with the Gwinnett County Police Department, joining the department in July 2024 with the goal of making a positive difference in the community. After months of rigorous training and preparation, he successfully graduated from the department’s 121st Police Academy class in May 2025. His graduation marked the beginning of what many believed would be a long and impactful career in law enforcement.
Born on April 8, 2000, in Jhapa, Nepal, Tamang’s life journey was one of determination and ambition. After immigrating to the United States, he embraced the opportunities available to him while maintaining a strong sense of gratitude and responsibility toward his new community. Those who knew him often described him as hardworking, compassionate, and motivated to succeed.
Before entering law enforcement, Tamang pursued higher education and earned degrees from the University of Akron in Akron, Ohio. His academic achievements reflected his commitment to learning and self-improvement, qualities that later carried over into his police career. Friends and mentors recalled that Tamang had long expressed an interest in serving others, which ultimately led him to choose policing as his profession.
During his time with the Gwinnett County Police Department, Officer Tamang quickly gained the respect of fellow officers and supervisors. Though his career was just beginning, he demonstrated professionalism, strong work ethic, and a sincere dedication to the community he served. Colleagues described him as someone who approached each shift with determination and humility, always willing to learn and support his fellow officers.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Tamang was also building a promising personal life. At the time of his passing, he was engaged to be married and was looking forward to beginning a new chapter with his fiancée. Family members, including loved ones living in Pennsylvania, have expressed profound grief while remembering his kindness, optimism, and devotion to those closest to him.
