Police Seek Public’s Help to Identify Suspect in Felony Theft at Grovetown Restaurant

Authorities are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a man believed to be connected to a felony theft by taking that occurred Monday night, February 2, 2026, at Mi Riconcito, a popular restaurant located along Wrightsboro Road.

Investigators say the incident has prompted an active investigation and are urging anyone with information to come forward.

According to law enforcement officials, the theft took place during evening business hours, when customers and staff were present.

While specific details about the stolen property have not yet been released, authorities confirmed that the value of the items involved meets the threshold for felony charges under Georgia law.

Detectives believe the suspect acted deliberately and may have been familiar with the location or its operations.

Officers responded to the scene shortly after the incident was reported and began gathering evidence, including reviewing surveillance footage and speaking with employees and witnesses.

Investigators say a man captured on security cameras is believed to be directly connected to the theft. Images from the footage have since been shared internally and may be released publicly in an effort to identify the suspect.

Mi Riconcito, known locally for its welcoming atmosphere and loyal customer base, has cooperated fully with law enforcement throughout the investigation.

Restaurant staff expressed concern over the incident but emphasized their appreciation for the swift response from authorities. No injuries were reported, and police have stated that there is no indication the suspect was armed during the incident.

“This appears to be an isolated theft, but it is still a serious crime,” a law enforcement spokesperson said. “We are asking anyone who recognizes the individual or who may have seen suspicious activity in the area that evening to contact us. Even small details can make a big difference.”

Authorities are particularly interested in hearing from anyone who was traveling along Wrightsboro Road or visiting nearby businesses on the night of February 2.

Investigators believe the suspect may have left the area shortly after the theft and could have been using a vehicle parked nearby. Tips regarding unusual behavior, vehicles, or movements before or after the incident are encouraged.

The case has sparked renewed conversations in the Grovetown community about business security and the importance of reporting suspicious activity.

Local officials stress that community involvement is often key to solving crimes, especially when surveillance images alone are not enough to positively identify a suspect.

Police remind the public that anyone with information can contact the Grovetown Police Department directly or submit tips anonymously through Crime Stoppers.

Tipsters are encouraged not to approach or confront the individual themselves, but instead to allow law enforcement to handle the situation safely and professionally.

As the investigation continues, authorities say updates will be provided as new information becomes available. For now, police remain hopeful that public assistance will lead to a quick identification and resolution of the case, helping to ensure accountability and maintain safety for local businesses and residents alike.
