Herbert Earl Boston, age 88, of Glasgow, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2026, at NHC Healthcare, surrounded by the comfort of family and compassionate caregivers. Born to the late John Boston and Mallie Foster Boston, Herbert lived a long life marked by faith, devotion, and quiet strength.
A lifelong resident of the Glasgow community, Herbert was known as a steady presence dependable, kind-hearted, and deeply committed to those he loved. He was a faithful member and deacon of Grider Memorial Baptist Church, where he served with humility and dedication for many years
His faith was not only something he professed, but something he lived daily through service, generosity, and encouragement to others. Herbert believed strongly in family, church, and community, and those values guided every chapter of his life.
Herbert shared an extraordinary marriage of 69 years with his beloved wife, Sarah Strange Boston. Together they built a home rooted in love, patience, and unwavering support. Their partnership stood as a beautiful example of commitment and devotion, and their bond remained strong through all of life’s seasons.
In addition to his parents, Herbert was preceded in death by two daughters, Christy Wheeler and her husband Bruce Wheeler, and Lou Ann Boston. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Corbert Oshea Boston and Aubrey Allen Boston, and by his sister, Sylvia McGuire. Though he endured the pain of loss, Herbert faced life with resilience and grace, always leaning on his faith and family.
Those who knew Herbert will remember his gentle spirit, his steady wisdom, and his willingness to lend a hand or offer a kind word. He leaves behind a legacy of faithfulness, love, and integrity that will continue through generations.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home, with burial to follow in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be held after 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Herbert Earl Boston will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
