Alice Reich, an 87-year-old resident of New Providence, lost her life following In A Fatal Lancaster County Car Crash

Alice V. Reich, a long-time resident of New Providence, Pennsylvania, died on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, following a two-vehicle collision in Drumore Township in rural Lancaster County. She was 87 years old

The Pennsylvania State Police and the Lancaster County Coroner’s Office reported that the crash occurred at approximately 9:21 a.m. at the intersection of Holtwood Road and Penny Road under dense fog conditions that impaired visibility on the country roads. Reich was driving her 2008 Toyota Corolla westbound along Holtwood Road when she missed a turn and attempted to make a U-turn at the intersection

As she executed the turn, Reich’s vehicle entered the path of a westbound 2003 Chevrolet Silverado. According to investigators, the Silverado’s driver attempted to brake and steer away, but was unable to avoid a collision. The truck’s front right bumper struck the front left door of the Corolla

Following the impact, Reich’s vehicle was propelled northwest and struck a mailbox on the north side of the road before coming to rest facing west. The Silverado left the roadway and stopped in an adjacent field.

Emergency responders from the Lancaster EMS Association arrived on scene and transported Reich to Penn Medicine Lancaster General Hospital. Despite life-saving efforts by medical personnel, she was pronounced dead at the hospital from multiple traumatic injuries. The Lancaster County Coroner’s Office ruled her death an accidental fatalityresulting from the crash.

Authorities reported that Reich was wearing both a lap and shoulder belt at the time of the collision. A 71-year-old passenger riding with her in the Corolla was also taken to the hospital with suspected minor injuries. The 76-year-old driver of the Silverado was not injured

Troopers noted that a “primary violation of limitations on turning around  general rule” was being investigated, though no charges had been publicly reported as of the latest updates. Pennsylvania State Police continue to investigate the precise sequence of events leading up to the crash.

At the time of reporting, detailed information about Reich’s personal and professional life such as her family, interests, community involvement, and survivors  had not been widely published. Local news outlets encouraged friends, relatives, and members of the community to share memories, photographs, and tributes that reflect her legacy.

Loved ones, neighbors, and longtime acquaintances are mourning the loss of a cherished member of their community whose life was tragically cut short in this unfortunate accident. Funeral arrangements and memorial service details were expected to be shared by the family and local funeral homes once finalized.
