BREAKING: Westdale Middle School Counselor Quinton Dixon Found Dead at Vacant Glen Oaks Middle School Campus

Tragedy struck the Baton Rouge community early Wednesday when Quinton Dixon, a counselor at Westdale Middle Magnet School, was discovered dead this morning inside the vacant building of the former Glen Oaks Middle School campus, according to law enforcement and local news sources.

The building where Dixon’s body was found is part of the Old Glen Oaks Middle School, a property no longer in active use by the East Baton Rouge (EBR) School District. Law enforcement officials were called to the site after reports surfaced that a man’s body was located inside the unused structure.

Identity of the Deceased and Preliminary Law Enforcement Statement

The deceased has been positively identified as Quinton Dixon, a staff counselor at Westdale Middle Magnet School in Baton Rouge. Officials say the discovery was made early Wednesday morning, with details still emerging as investigators continue their work. At this time, authorities have not officially released the manner or cause of death as part of their public statement.

While formal confirmation is pending an autopsy and toxicology report, initial statements from the Baton Rouge Police Department  cited by local media affiliates  indicate that officers believe he took his own life. This has not been confirmed by the coroner’s office or medical examiners at the time of this report.

Context: Recent Events Involving Dixon

This discovery comes on the same day authorities filed an arrest warrant against Dixon. According to reports, he was accused of inappropriately messaging a minor over social media, prompting a rapid escalation of the situation. Court documents reportedly filed Wednesday allege four counts of indecent behavior with a juvenile

Local sources state that Dixon had been placed on administrative leave about two weeks ago, coinciding with the initial investigation into those allegations. The nature of those messages reportedly involved communication with a 14‑year‑old student, with multiple messages described as inappropriate in tone and content.

The Vacant Glen Oaks Middle School Campus

The Old Glen Oaks Middle School building where Dixon was found  is part of the East Baton Rouge Parish school system’s portfolio of facilities no longer used for active instruction or administrative purposes. The structure has been vacant for several years, a relic of district realignment and campus consolidation efforts.

While the campus grounds remain owned by the district, there have been no recent public plans announced for redevelopment or repurposing of the property. The site’s current status as unused has raised questions about security and monitoring, especially following this incident.

Response from the Community and District

At present, the East Baton Rouge Parish School System has not issued a detailed public statement regarding Dixon’s death or the unrelated allegations that preceded it. Parents, students, and staff at Westdale Middle Magnet School were reportedly notified of the counselor’s passing late Wednesday morning, with many expressing shock and sadness at the sudden turn of events.

Administrators have indicated that counseling resources will be made available to students and staff affected by the news, though specific plans and statements from district leadership were pending at press time.

Ongoing Investigation

Law enforcement continues to secure the scene and gather evidence. Investigators are coordinating with the coroner’s office to determine a definitive cause of death. The Baton Rouge Police Department has asked anyone with information related to Dixon’s final hours or the circumstances surrounding his death to come forward as part of an active investigation.
