Betty Carol Polson Neal, 86, Edmonton, departed this life on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at the T J Samson Community Hospital.

A native of Metcalfe County, Betty was born and raised among the rolling hills and close-knit community she would cherish throughout her life. She was the beloved daughter of the late Lee and Blanche Ball Polson, who instilled in her the values of hard work, kindness, and devotion to family.

From an early age, Betty demonstrated a caring spirit and a quiet strength that would guide her through every season of her life.

Betty was the widow of the late William Clayton Neal, with whom she shared many years of marriage, companionship, and family life. Together they built a home rooted in love, faith, and mutual respect.

Above all else, Betty was a devoted mother and grandmother who found her greatest joy in caring for her family. She took pride in celebrating milestones, offering guidance, and simply being present for those she loved. Her family remembers her as a steady source of encouragement, warmth, and unconditional love.

She was a dedicated and dependable worker throughout her career. Betty was employed by Handmacher Fashions in Glasgow for seven years, where she was known for her strong work ethic and friendly demeanor. She later devoted twenty years of service to the Metcalfe County Nursing Home.

During her time there, she provided compassionate care to residents, touching countless lives with her patience, empathy, and genuine concern for others. Her years of service reflected her natural inclination to help those in need and to treat everyone with dignity and respect.

A woman of faith, Betty was a faithful member of New Liberty Baptist Church. Her church family was an important part of her life, providing fellowship, spiritual strength, and lasting friendships. She lived her faith daily through acts of kindness, generosity, and quiet service, serving as an example to all who knew her.

Betty leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory. Survivors include her three children: Ronnie Lee Neal (Deloris), Michael David Neal (Darlene), and Lisa Neal Barrett. She was a proud grandmother to five grandchildren: Daniel Jason Peden (Robin), Matthew Dereck Compton (Emily), William Tyler Neal (Kayla), Micah Ann Neal (friend Nick), and David Allen Neal. She was also blessed with four great-grandchildren: Alisha Nicole Buchanan, Cody Andrew Peden, Courtney Danielle Peden (friend Charlie), and Gracie Elizabeth Compton (friend Maddix), each of whom brought her immense joy.

Additional survivors include her sister, Barbara Hatchett; a special friend, Mitchell Bray; and numerous friends and former co-workers who were enriched by her kindness and friendship.

In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Joe Hatchett.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home, with burial to follow in the New Liberty Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
