Mary Levingston Obituary-Death News; 35-Year-Old Woman Killed in Hit-and-Run Tragedy in Excelsior Springs

It is with profound sorrow that we share the passing of Mary Levingston, a 35-year-old woman of Kansas City, Missouri. Mary lost her life on Wednesday evening, November 12, 2025, in tragic circumstances along Fredericksburg Road in Excelsior Springs, Missouri.

Mary was discovered by law enforcement at approximately 6:00 p.m., when the Excelsior Springs Police Department responded to a 911 call reporting a body on the 1000 block of Fredericksburg Road.

Upon arrival, officers found Mary lying on the shoulder of the roadway. The preliminary investigation revealed that she had sustained blunt force trauma consistent with having been struck by a motor vehicle, and authorities are treating the case as a fatal hit-and-run.

No vehicle description or driver identity has yet been determined.

Beyond the official facts, Mary’s death is a painful loss to her family, friends and community. While specific details of her life—her work, passions and relationships are not yet publicly disclosed, those who knew Mary remember her as a vibrant, compassionate individual whose presence brought light to those around her.

The abrupt end of her life underscores how fragile and precious each moment can be.

Mary’s passing invites reflection on the realities of hit-and-run tragedies and pedestrian safety.

The roadway where the incident occurred is not well illuminated and may not have proper pedestrian infrastructure. One local commenter observed:

“The road doesn’t even have a dividing line painted on. There are no street lights. Excelsior Springs needs lower-tech solutions for hit-and-run driving.”
Such conditions amplify the risk pedestrians face and the urgency for drivers to remain vigilant and accountable.

Investigators are urging anyone with information to contact the Excelsior Springs Police Department at 816-630-2000 or to submit a tip anonymously via the Greater Kansas City Crime Stoppers hotline at 816-474-TIPS.

The community’s help may be crucial to identifying the vehicle or driver responsible for this tragedy.

In the wake of Mary’s death, we extend our deepest condolences to her loved ones. Although Mary’s story and the full arc of her life may not yet be widely recorded, she mattered deeply to those who knew her and she leaves behind a void that will be felt.

We honor her memory by calling attention to the broader issue of pedestrian safety, and by urging compassion, responsibility and justice in the face of a senseless loss.

A memorial or service arrangement has not yet been publicly announced. As information becomes available, updates will be shared with the community.

Until then, may Mary rest in peace and may her memory spark increased awareness and safety for all who walk along our roads.
