Brighton Woman Charged After Shooting in Collegeville Claims Life of Birmingham Man

On the morning of Saturday, November 8 2025, the Birmingham Police Department (BPD) responded to a call of a domestic disturbance in the 3200 block of 32nd Street North in the Collegeville neighborhood of Birmingham, Alabama.

When officers arrived at approximately 10:14 a.m., they heard gunshots and observed a vehicle attempting to flee from the scene.

The officers stopped the car and took the driver into custody.

The victim was identified as 30-year-old Anson Quandarius Henderson of Birmingham. Fire and rescue personnel pronounced him dead at the scene, seated on a porch in front of the residence.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the shooting followed a domestic argument between Henderson and the mother of his child.

After this altercation ended and the woman departed the home, a second vehicle arrived and someone inside it opened fire, fatally wounding Henderson.

Police have said the woman was not the person who pulled the trigger, but questions remain about whether she arranged or summoned the shooter.

A suspect, identified as Brittney Watson, age 26 and from the nearby city of Brighton, Alabama, was arrested the following day.

She is charged with murder and discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling in connection with Henderson’s death, and is being held without bond at the Jefferson County Jail.

The case highlights several significant points:

  • It began as a domestic dispute rather than a random shooting, underscoring the often-complex nature of domestic violence situations that can escalate to homicide.

  • The presence of a responding vehicle fleeing the scene suggests premeditation or at least planning beyond a spontaneous act.

  • While a direct link between the argument and the shooter is still under investigation, the fact that the victim’s child’s mother was involved in a prior dispute raises questions about potential motives and coordination.

  • The location Collegeville, a public housing community adds to the challenges faced by law enforcement in managing violence in dense urban neighborhoods.

  • The fact that the suspect is from Brighton and the victim from Birmingham emphasizes how regional dynamics (and mobility) play into shootings in the metro area.

For the broader community, this incident will likely raise concerns about domestic safety, gun violence in neighborhoods, and law enforcement response time.

The BPD is asking anyone with information about the shooting to contact their homicide unit at (205) 254-1764 or submit anonymous tips to Crime Stoppers at (205) 254-7777.

In summary: a tragic domestic dispute ended in a fatal shooting when shots were fired from a passing vehicle in the Collegeville neighborhood of Birmingham.

The victim, Anson Henderson, died on the spot; a suspect from Brighton has been arrested and charged. The investigation remains ongoing.
