BREAKING: Arrests Made After Deadly Shooting on Ellison Circle as Community Mourns Young Victim

The quiet of an ordinary evening on Ellison Circle was shattered by violence two sharp gunshots, close together, echoing through the neighborhood. A resident inside a nearby home reported hearing the blasts just after dusk: sudden, jarring, and unmistakable.

Then came an unsettling stretch of silence nearly seven long minutes where nothing moved, no one called out, and no one yet knew that a young man’s life was slipping away.

When the first 911 call finally came through, officers rushed to the scene. There, near a parked car along the curb, they found 23-year-old Jordan Phillips lying motionless on the pavement.

His hands were visible, open, and empty. Officers quickly scanned the immediate area but found no weapon nearby, a detail that would later become central in the early stages of the investigation.

Medics arrived within minutes, loading Jordan into an ambulance and racing toward the University of Nebraska Medical Center.

Those tense moments were a fight against time one that ultimately could not be won. Despite the medical team’s rapid response, Jordan succumbed to catastrophic internal bleeding, leaving family, friends, and neighbors stunned by the sudden, senseless loss.

As detectives worked through the night, the investigation gained rapid momentum. Authorities soon identified 38-year-old Robert Henry as the primary suspect.

Police confirmed he has been charged with first-degree murder and evidence tampering, the latter suggesting that attempts may have been made to clean up or remove something from the scene before officers arrived. Investigators have not yet released specifics on what that evidence may be, careful not to compromise the still-developing case.

Just hours after Henry’s arrest, police also took 41-year-old Keisha Neal into custody. She now faces charges of aiding a felon, accused of assisting Henry following the shooting. Officials have not shared the nature of her alleged involvement, but records indicate she was detained after interviews and follow-up searches tied her to post-incident activity.

Crucial questions remain unanswered. Detectives have not confirmed whether Jordan knew either Henry or Neal, nor have they offered a possible motive.

That absence of clarity has only deepened the community’s unease, leaving residents on Ellison Circle grappling with the thought that a violent confrontation erupted without warning in their midst.

To close the gaps, investigators are analyzing cellphone data, examining communication logs, and pulling traffic-camera footage from a tightly defined radius around the crime scene.

These digital traces, detectives say, could provide the missing minutes in the timeline what happened before the gunshots, who was present, and whether the shooting was planned or sudden.

For now, the investigation moves swiftly, but with critical details still missing, the full truth remains just out of view. What is clear is the magnitude of the loss: a young man whose life ended too soon, a family left mourning, and a community shaken by the brutality of a moment that cannot be undone.

Tonight, as candles are lit and loved ones gather to honor Jordan Phillips, we pause to remember the human being at the center of this tragedy. We extend our deepest sympathy to his family and all who are grieving.

May they find strength, answers, and justice in the days ahead.
