The incident occurred at approximately 12:25 a.m., when officers responded to multiple reports of gunfire near the intersection of Sunnydale Avenue and Hahn Street, a corridor that has seen intermittent bursts of violence in recent years despite ongoing community-safety efforts.
According to preliminary statements, patrol officers were already in the vicinity when they heard what sounded like several rapid shots.
