A recent high school graduate who played football and had his whole life mapped out ahead of him is dead after the car he was in hit a tree in the early morning darkness on a Stratford street. Ryan Julian graduated from Bunnell High School in 2025 and was killed in the crash that happened around 3:35 a.m. Saturday on Nichols Avenue. He was one of five people in the vehicle, all aged sixteen to twenty-four from Stratford and Bridgeport. Three others suffered minor injuries and one person is in critical condition. Police found Ryan at the scene and there was nothing they could do. Investigators are working to figure out what caused the car to lose control—whether it was speed, a mechanical failure, bad road conditions, or something the driver did. The school responded quickly with support services, and acting superintendent Heather Borges acknowledged the pain the community is feeling. Ryan's football team posted a tribute calling him positive and dedicated, someone who made growth during high school and will always be remembered as part of the Bulldog family. The accident happened in the darkness of early morning, and the vehicle struck a tree with such force that there was little chance for survival. 

Emergency responders arrived at the scene to find Ryan at the wreckage; tragically, there was nothing they could do to save him. 

The other four occupants suffered injuries, with three of them sustaining minor wounds, while one remains in critical condition. 

Authorities are now working tirelessly to piece together the events that led to the crash, examining various factors such as possible speeding, mechanical failure, poor road conditions, or driver error. 

Investigators have yet to determine the precise cause, but their efforts aim to bring clarity to an incident that has rocked the community.
