It is with deep sadness that the family of Sopheap Sath announces her peaceful passing on August 1, 2025, surrounded by the love and presence of those closest to her.
A devoted grandmother, loving mother, and cherished elder, Sopheap leaves behind a legacy rooted in resilience, compassion, and deep cultural pride.
Her presence will be profoundly missed by everyone who was blessed to know her.
Born in Cambodia, Sopheap's early life was shaped by strength, tradition, and endurance.
She carried the spirit of her homeland with her when she came to the United States, bringing with her not only the language and customs of Cambodia but also the quiet wisdom that defined her character.
For decades, she made her home in Manteca, California, where she became a respected and familiar figure within her family and the broader Southeast Asian community.
Sopheap was the proud grandmother of 16 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren each of whom she touched deeply with her unwavering love, stories of heritage, and nurturing care.
She was a pillar of strength, always there to offer guidance, a warm meal, or simply a listening ear. Her kitchen was often filled with the aromas of traditional Cambodian dishes, and her home was a sanctuary of comfort and welcome for generations of family and friends.
To her grandchildren, she was more than a grandmother she was a storyteller, a teacher of values, and a living bridge to their roots.
Through her, they learned the importance of humility, perseverance, and unconditional love.
She celebrated their milestones with genuine pride and comforted their setbacks with grace and reassurance. Her influence will remain woven into the lives of those who continue to walk the path she helped shape.
Sopheap's final wish was to have her ashes returned to Cambodia, her beloved homeland, to be laid to rest beside her father a place of ancestral connection and lasting peace.
To honor this sacred request, her family has launched a fundraiser aimed at supporting the travel and ceremonial arrangements needed to fulfill her final journey.
They are inviting friends, extended family, and members of the Manteca community to contribute to this cause, not only as a show of support but as a celebration of Sopheap’s beautiful life and enduring legacy.
Though she has departed from this world, Sopheap Sath’s spirit lives on in the laughter of her grandchildren, the traditions she upheld, and the values she instilled.
Her life was one of quiet dignity and strength, and her memory will forever serve as a guiding light for those who loved her.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all who have offered prayers, condolences, and support during this time.
In helping to carry out Sopheap’s final wish, they hope to give her the farewell she so deeply deserves one that honors her life, her journey, and her everlasting connection to her roots.
May she rest in eternal peace.
