Kathryn Scullion, Oak Island, NC-Obituary-Death News-Kathryn Scullion, Has Tragically Passed Away At 67

Kathryn “Kathy” Scullion, 67, of Oak Island, North Carolina, tragically passed away on Thursday, July 31, 2025, after being involved in a serious automobile collision on East Oak Island Drive.

Born in 1958, Kathryn was a longtime resident of the Brunswick County region and was known for her warmth, community spirit, and deep affection for her family and friends. 

She spent her life in service to others whether through local civic engagement, time spent volunteering at area events, or simply being a supportive presence to those around her.

On that fateful afternoon, Kathryn was driving in the 2600 block of East Oak Island Drive when her vehicle crossed the center lane and collided with another vehicle. Emergency crews responded quickly. 

With Kathryn unable to exit her car, officers broke a rear passenger window to provide medical assistance. She was then transported to Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center, where she later succumbed to her injuries. 

The other motorist, Steve Settle, was also hospitalized and continues to receive care.

Though her life was cut short, Kathryn’s legacy of kindness and sincerity lives on. She was a devoted daughter, partner, mother, and friend known for offering a friendly ear, a generous smile, and a helping hand at every opportunity. 

She loved the coastal beauty of Oak Island, the simple pleasures of beachside walks, and the warmth of a close-knit community gathering.

She is survived by her immediate family, including, as well as many extended relatives and close friends who will remember her gentle spirit and unwavering generosity.

As funeral and memorial service details become available, they will likely be facilitated through a local funeral home in Brunswick County, with arrangements announced via local news outlets, church bulletins, or memorial websites.
